The most popular kinds of spuds in NC?

Jennifer Russell, owner of Carolina Farm and Garden Center in Norwood, describes the four most popular varieties grown by many gardeners in the state.
1. Kennebec: These are the most popular potato variety in the area. A large white potato with a tan skin, Kennebecs come up last in the planting season. They make a good baking potato, as well as french fries and mashed potatoes.
2. Yukon Gold: A yellow potato, this medium-sized potato is good for boiling, baking, and making french fries.
3. Pontiac Red: They have a red skin and are smaller than most potatoes. They come up first and are a good choice to have in stews
4. Irish Cobbler: While not as popular as the first three, Irish Cobbler is a large white potato. They can be used in stew and are also good for baking.
