What is Food Day?

Food Day is a nationwide celebration of and movement toward more healthy, affordable, and sustainable food culminating in a day of action on October 24 every year. Created by the nonprofit Center for Science in the Public Interest and driven by a diverse coalition of food movement leaders and citizens, Food Day aims to bring us closer to a food system with “real food” that is produced with care for the environment, animals, and the women and men who grow, harvest, and serve it. The inaugural year, 2011, featured more than 2,300 events in all 50 states!

Sign up for email updates through www.FoodDay.org, follow @FoodDay2012 on Twitter, and “Like” Food Day on Facebook to learn how you can get involved!

The mission of Farm Fresh MarketPlace: to promote local agriculture through education, community outreach, and networking. Farm Fresh MarketPlace enhances marketing opportunities for farmers; encourages family farming, farmers’ markets and the preservation of agricultural traditions; influences public policy; and, furthers understanding of the links between farming, food, health and local economies.

Farm Fresh MarketPlace works in three areas; (1) improving marketing opportunities for farmers, (2) coordinating food and agriculture policy initiatives, and (3) educating children and adults about the importance of supporting local agriculture and of knowing where their food comes from.
