Melon Mania in Lexington (August 4)
"Melon Mania Day" at the Lexington Farmers Market, Saturday, August 4th. There will be a watermelon eating contest. The children's competition (12 and under) starts at 10am. Participants need to sign up before 9.45am. The adult competition (ages 13 and up) starts at 11am. Space is limited to the first 12 competitors. Adult participants need to sign up before 10.45am. There are prizes for competitors who finish their watermelon first. Plus a raffle for a basket of bountiful, fresh farmer's market goodies. Raffle tickets are $1.
Saturday market hours are 8am until 12pm. The market is locaed inside the Historic Rail and Freight Depot, 129 S. Railroad St., Lexington. There is free parking at either end of the depot.
