Lexington Farmer's Market Hosts a Health Fair May 19

The Lexington Farmers Market will be hosting its fourth annual health fair on Saturday, May 19, 2012. At the health fair this year will be the Davidson County Health Department, Wake Forest Baptist Health Lexington Medical Center, Thomasville Medical Center, Path of Hope, Wesley Long Cancer Center and Davidson County Family Services. Cooperative Extension Family and Consumer Science Agent, Jeannie Leonard will be doing cooking demonstrations on healthy meals with "in-season" produce.

As usual there will be lots of fresh produce, plants, flowers, baked goods and locally grown meat at the market. This week look for broccoli, cauliflower, mixed lettuces, cabbage, green onions, strawberries, greenhouse tomatoes, sugar snap peas and more.

The market is open Saturdays from 8am-Noon, at the Historic Southern Rail and Freight Depot in Lexington on Railroad Street.
